Volunteer dentists Heraeus
SOUTH BEND, Indiana--Heraeus Kulzer offers product lines to meet nearly every dental need. Heraeus was host for a second annual Dental Access Days in the educational facility of its South Bend corporate office. With support from the Giving Hand Foundation--whose representatives travel the country to provide these free dental clinics--numerous local doctors, assistants, and hygienists volunteered their time to provide care to the underserved. Overall, volunteers treated 131 patients, totaling more than $146,000 in free dental services. These included fillings, cleanings, extractions, partial dentures, and oral exams.“The value of community-based programs like Dental Access Days cannot be overstated,” said Dr. Keith Phillips, national director, Pankey Dental Access Days and president of the Giving Hand Foundation. "Through the dedicated energies and hard work of organizations like Heraeus, we are able to reach individuals who desperately need basic dental care services.” Members of several organizations local to the facility benefited from this charitable effort, including the YWCA Domestic Abuse Shelter, Dismas of Michiana, St. Margaret's House, Hope Ministries, South Bend Center for the Homeless, and Man of God Ministries. Care providers included 14 dentists, 10 hygienists, 14 assistants, and about 35 additional nonclinical volunteers. Many local businesses also assisted in the effort, donating T-shirts, food, snacks, sodas, and water. Patterson Dental supported the event with volunteers, a CEREC machine and materials, and additional sterilization equipment. This charitable effort is the latest for Heraeus in a spectrum of charitable giving. As a successful company with product lines, Heraeus continues to give back in ways that encompass time, materials, and financial support. Here are some examples:▪ Heraeus is a corporate partner of Give Back a Smile, the premier program of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation. Through GBAS, volunteer dentists and laboratory technicians agree to restore the smile zone of victims of intimate partner violence. ▪ In addition to supporting GBAS, Heraeus supports the fight against breast cancer by donating a portion of every sale of its Venus White Teeth Whitening System to the cause.
