Delta Dental Companies will donate one dollar for each person who joins the cause and will match every dollar donated up to $100,000. Joining the Cause is free and takes only seconds to do; however, the campaign ends June 30, 2011, so people are encouraged to join son. Facebook members should visit www.causes.com/deltadental and click on the Join button.
Donations will go to purchase mobile equipment for the charity dental clinics of America’s Dentists Care Foundation and America’s Missions of Mercy, which provide care to underserved dental patients in 17 states.
“This donation from Delta Dental will mean that we are able to purchase the equipment needed to continue providing free dental care to the underserved,” said Bruce Bergstrom, executive director of the America’s Dentists Care Foundation. The foundation supports the America’s Missions of Mercy events.
Since the first MOM events in 2000, dental volunteers have provided care to more than 100,000 people, valued at more than $50 million. MOM events are organized at the state level. The charity feels this is the most effective way to deliver care.
“I am so thankful for the treatment given to my mom,” said recent Mission of Mercy attendee Jennifer Schecter. “I will now be able to get her dentures, something she’s needed for 10-plus years. This is definitely an organization I would like to help in the future.”
Added Chris Pyle, director of state government and public relations: “Delta Dental companies have been big supporters of Mission of Mercy events at the state level, so we’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact this organization is having on the lives of those in need of dental care. We are hopeful the Facebook community will embrace this cause, and look forward to contributing to the Missions of Mercy on a national level.”
