Today is the official first day of summer, but I think someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that little tidbit. Here in Oklahoma, we’ve already reached that nasty, sticky time of year. We’ve already had triple-digit temperature days … and we’re nowhere near the really hot part of the summer (here’s a traveling tip for you … don’t come to Tulsa in August … ever). I hope you’re staying cool, or at least finding a pool or plenty of air conditioning!
Have you checked out the June print edition of Proofs yet? If not, I think it will make a good addition to your summertime reading list. Click here to check it out.
Let me highlight a few of the articles inside this issue…
On page 16, you’ll find our cover story where two of the industries’ top marketers (Tim McGlynn of 3M ESPE, and Nikki Sparacino of DENTSPLY Caulk) answer 10 marketing questions I posed to them. I think you’ll gain some insight into “the marketing mind” by reading this article. Also, one of my Twitter friends asked a follow-up question to the article that you can read by clicking here.
Also in this issue (page 6), you’ll find my interview with Matt Schweikher, the manager of Patterson Dental’s Birmingham branch, conducted shortly after the violent tornado outbreak of April 27 that decimated so much property in Alabama. Little did we know that, less than one month later, a huge tornado would hit Joplin, Mo., and do a great deal of damage. I encourage you to read my interview with Schweikher on Alabama, watch my video tour of the damage in Joplin (click here to watch it), and then help your colleagues by donating to the American Red Cross. The people in these areas will need help for months to come.
Another interesting article comes from John Treace, where he discusses the five most common afflictions of sales teams (page 24). It’s good information for anyone involved in sales.
From a corporate standpoint, be sure to check out the profile of Cetylite Industries on page 26. It’s a company you’ve heard about forever, but do you really know about it and its products?
Yes, I’m biased, but I think there is a ton of information in this month’s issue. Again, you can check it out by clicking here.
