LAS VEGAS, Nevada--Dental professionals who attend the American Dental Association’s 152nd Annual Session and World Marketplace Exhibition Oct. 10-13, 2011, here at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, can help make a difference in the lives of developmentally challenged individuals or families in crisis.

With the theme, “We Care for You from Head to Toe,” the Alliance of the American Dental Association project gives ADA Annual Session attendees a chance to donate care kits that contain a new hat, pair of socks, and a toothbrush for clients of two not-for-profit organizations that serve Las Vegas residents in need.

The two organizations are Opportunity Village, an organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities, and the Shade Tree, a shelter for women, children, and their pets.

Annual session attendees are encouraged to participate in this effort from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 10 and from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 12 by filling a gallon-sized zip-top bag with a toothbrush, hat, and pair of socks for a person of a specific age range and bring it to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino pool lobby behind the escalators at the end of the Studio Walk.

“With more than 28,000 dental professionals registered to attend this year’s ADA Annual Session, the Alliance of the American Dental Association saw this as a perfect opportunity to solicit donations for those in need,” said Johanna Manasse, a member of the Alliance Membership Council. “Alliance members will be wearing bright yellow aprons and will be ready to receive your contributions with a grand smile.”

Donors can also make a contribution of $10 or more to support the project, and the public is encouraged to contribute directly to the organizations throughout the year.

The Alliance is a partner organization to the ADA composed of spouses of ADA member dentists and dental students. The Alliance actively provides community oralhealth education, supports the well being of the dental family, and engages in legislative advocacy for the welfare of the public and the dental profession.
