S-Ray, a Seattle, Wash., dental imaging company that is developing an ultrasound-based imaging system, has announced the addition of Dr. Michael Miyasaki to the Advisory Board.

Dr. Miyasaki will focus on the clinical use and testing of S-Ray's ultrasound imaging technology. This technology, Ultrasound Computed Tomography, uses ultrasound to detect cracks and cavities in teeth.

The technology is radiation-free, so it is safe for dentists, staff, and patients.

“Dr. Miyasaki’s experience and skill as a dentist make (him) uniquely qualified to move S-Ray forward. I’m excited to have Mike on board as we prepare to come to market in the next few months,” said CEO Steve Baird.

Dr. Miyasaki is an industry leader with more than 20 years in the industry. He was most recently the vice president of professional relations and advanced education for Discus Dental. In this role, Dr. Miyasaki cultivated domestic and international customer relationships while advancing the R&D department and Discus Dental.

Dr. Miyasaki, a 1987 graduate of the University of Southern California Dental School, has been the president of professional relations and the vice president of international operations at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Dr. Miyasaki continues to teach and publish, and practices in California.
