The DentaQuest Institute has recognized the dental program at Borinquen Health Care Center (Miami, Fla.) as a Safety Net Solutions Center of Excellence.

Borinquen Health Care Center provides a comprehensive range of health and social services to patients in Miami-Dade County who face financial, geographic, linguistic, or cultural barriers in access to care.
The administration and the dental staff at Borinquen Health Care Center have worked with the DentaQuest Institute’s Safety Net Solutions team during the past two years to streamline administrative practices to increase the number of patients seen in the dental department.
Running more efficiently has enabled Borinquen Health Center staff to reach out into the community. In early 2010, Borinquen began to provide dental care services to children in Miami Dade public schools during the school day through the Healthy Smiles program.
“Borinquen Health Care Center was chosen as a Center of Excellence because it has distinguished itself through strong leadership and excellence in oral health practice management,” noted Dr. Mark Doherty, executive director of the DentaQuest Institute. “As a result, Borinquen has greatly improved the oral health status of their patients in an underserved area.”
