The DentaQuest Institute has recognized the dental program at Vista Community Clinic (Vista, Calif.), a Safety Net Solutions Center of Excellence.

Vista Community Clinic provides primary health care and health education to the community, focusing on those who face economic, cultural, or social barriers to care. Vista Community Clinic serves more than 56,000 patients and operates in North San Diego County.

The administration and dental staff at Vista Community Clinic have worked diligently with the DentaQuest Institute’s Safety Net Solutions team to streamline administrative practices to increase the number of patients seen in the dental department. By running more efficiently, Vista was able to branch out into the community and start a school-based dental program, reaching more children and increasing access to care for this priority population.

“Vista Community Clinic was chosen as a Center of Excellence because it has distinguished itself through strong leadership and excellence in oral health practice management,” noted Dr. Mark Doherty, executive director of the DentaQuest Institute. “As a result, Vista has greatly improved the oral health status of their patients in an underserved area.”
