OXNARD, California--DUX Dental has announced hosting of a free webinar to help dental professionals identify the most common mistakes made when sterilizing instruments and how to improve infection control practices in their offices.

Pat Pine, a registered dental hygienist and national infection control educator, will present the webinar, “Five Serious Sterilization Violations” at 5 p.m. (EST) March 15, 2012. Registration information is available at www.duxdental.com.

Pine will present techniques that dentists, dental assistants and hygienists can apply in their practices to increase patient safety, limit risk, and streamline sterilization procedures. The webinar will address:

• protocols for the dental sterilization process and techniques to prevent sterilization breach
• overlooked sources of cross-contamination in the dental office, such as bib holders and barriers
• the risk of disease transmission brought about by failed sterilization techniques

Pine has more than 30 years of combined experience in hygiene, dental assisting, and infection control training. She is certified by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration as a compliance trainer, and is a frequent presenter at dental conferences and meetings throughout the country.

She is an active member of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene, American Dental Hygienists Association, and the Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures.
