Series is a set of instruments specifically designed for use in microdental procedures.

MISSOULA, Montana--American Eagle Instruments has announced the debut of a set of instruments specifically designed for use in microdental procedures.

American Eagle has partnered with Dr. Mark Colonna to create a line of microdental hand instruments.

The combination of microdental instruments and dental lasers allows the dentist to perform full crown preps and porcelain veneers, eliminating the use of handpieces and the need for local anesthetic.

Dr. Colonna utilizes dental lasers and micro-dental instruments to eliminate the use of drills. The Dr. Colonna series of instruments are made from stainless steel and are titanium nitride-coated to reduce wear, and increase instrument longevity. The titanium-nitride coating also provides a smooth surface, which eliminates pull back when placing composite restorations.

American Eagle's Dr. Colonna series of instruments include the following:

MicroSpoon Excavator #4: Small-ended spoon excavator that features reinforced terminal shanks, for removal of decay in the smallest microdental preparations

MicroSpoon Excavator #5: Small-ended spoon excavator with two different shank angles for removal of decay

MicroSpoon Excavator #6: Slightly larger spoon excavator for removing bulk decay in larger preparations

IPC Carver: Interproximal carver is thinner than a regular carver. Used for placement of composite material, and to shape marginal ridges prior to curing.

Acorn Carver: Used for placing initial anatomy in Class I and Class II restorations

Condensor/Plugger #0: For initial packing of posterior composite restorations

Condensor/Plugger #1: smaller than the #0, the #1 is perfect for filling smaller preparations.

Condensor/Plugger #2: Smallest of the pluggers, the #2 is designed to fit into tiny microdental preparations

TN Coated Shepard's Hook Explorer: Designed to analyze the final polish of a restoration. The titanium-nitride coating leaves no marks or scratches on the final restoration.

Dr. Colonna is a member of the ADA, MDA and a founding member of the World Clinical Laser Institute. He received the 2003-2004 Clinician of the Year award from the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry.
