EFFINGHAM, Illinois--Heartland Dental Care, Inc. acquired nine dental practices during third quarter 2008.

These acquisitions include practices in both Florida and Texas. The seven Florida acquisitions include facilities in Bonita Springs, Bradenton, Lake Mary, Orlando, and Spring Hill. The two Texas acquisitions are located in Katy and Plano.

The acquisitions bring the total number of Heartland Dental Care practices to 223.

"These acquisitions keep us right on target with our projected growth for the year," said Richard E. Workman, DMD, CEO and president of Heartland Dental Care. "We anticipate adding another five to ten single practices by the end of the year. We also anticipate a few large group practice acquisitions in the near future."

"With these seven practices in Florida, we now have a total of 42 practices throughout the state," Workman said. "We have grown quickly in these markets because of our established personnel to support these practices, and we plan to continue this growth in the future."

Dr. Lee Welky, a third-quarter Heartland acquisition in Bonita Springs, joined Heartland Dental Care for the same reason many other dentists join.

"After 36 years in dentistry, I was looking at the future of my practice. I discussed options with several colleagues, and Heartland Dental Care was the answer," Dr. Welky said. "They take the business headaches away so I can focus on providing dentistry to my patients. I even have an associate dentist with me now, and I know the future of my practice is stable."
