SmileXpress CEO/owner and Florida millionaire philanthropist Bob Lipton signs 10-year, $1.25 million commitment to Florida Atlantic University's Athletics Department.

BOCA RATON, Fla.--Low-key SmileXpress CEO/owner and Florida millionaire philanthropist Bob Lipton had no idea he would be walking into a major media blitz March 26.

On that day, Lipton signed a 10-year, $1.25 million commitment to Florida Atlantic University's Athletics Department. He was surprised to see every major Florida news organization covering the historic gift, which will help pay for the construction of the 30,000-seat, open-air football stadium slated for a fall 2010 completion.

The fairly new FAU Owls, coached by former University of Miami Coach Howard Schnellenberger, beat the odds in 2007 by winning their first New Orleans Bowl against Memphis University.

"Our support for the University and its students has no relationship to what we can gain financially," said Lipton. "The attitude of the FAU Athletics Department has further proven that my contributions have been well spent. The FAU team represents the American spirit."

Lipton's long-time admiration for Coach Schnellenberger prompted him to add $250,000 to his FAU commitment, as a memoriam to the son Coach Schnellenberger recently lost to cancer.

Lipton is the CEO/owner and founder of SmileXpress, along with COO Charles Shane. SmileXpress is Florida's largest teeth whitening spa, with locations in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Wellington and Aventura. The company has plans to expand nationally.
