Hu-Friedy names new senior vice president of marketing and sales

David Gibbons joins the company with more than 20 years of experience in global marketing, sales, and general management.

CHICAGO, Illinois--Hu-Friedy Mfg. Co., a leading dental instrument manufacturer, has announced the appointment of David Gibbons to the position of senior vice president of marketing and sales. The appointment was effective April 7.

Gibbons joins Hu-Friedy with more than 20 years of experience in global marketing, sales, and general management, working with U.S. and international dealers and distributors. Gibbons reports to Ron Saslow, president and CEO.

Most recently, Gibbons was a partner in the consulting firm SFG Advisory Group, a global marketing, sales and operations organization. Previously, he was the senior vice president–international for TaylorMade Adidas Golf.

His diverse and extensive sales and marketing leadership expertise also comes from key executive positions with: Life Fitness, where he served as vice president-business development and strategy, Johnson Outdoors as group vice president-fishing division, MacGregor Golf Company as president, and Wilson Sporting Goods as vice president-marketing and business development, international.

In support of Hu-Friedy's growth strategy, Gibbons' goals include international expansion, while unifying and streamlining the organization's critical sales and marketing disciplines. Gibbons assumes many responsibilities of John O'Connor, the company's senior vice president of global sales, who will be retiring at the end of 2008 after 29 years of service.

Gibbons has a B.S. in marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago. He is married with three children--two sons and a daughter. He and his family reside in Libertyville, Ill.
