American Dental Association names new Senior Vice President

Wendy-Jo Toyama to lead ADA's membership, marketing efforts.

CHICAGO--The American Dental Association has appointed Wendy-Jo Toyama to the position of senior vice president. She wil lead the ADA's Division of Membership, Tripartite Relations Marketing.

In this role, Toyama serves as a member of the ADA's executive team and oversees the ADA's marketing, membership, relationships with state and local dental societies, and international activities. Her responsibilities also include management of the ADA brand, marketing and oversight of member/customer experience.

We are delighted to have Wendy-Jo assume this critical post," said ADA Executive Director James B. Bramson, DDS. "She is a talented, creative leader whose vision will enhance the ADA's ability to serve dental professionals and our patients in an evolving health care marketplace."

Toyama joined the ADA in 2003 as director, Tripartite Grassroots Membership Initiative and Council on Membership, leading staff teams in developing and implementing strategies and resources to assist state and local dental societies in their membership outreach efforts and serving volunteer leaders.

Her previous professional experience includes marketing and communications roles in corporate and non-profit settings. She served as vice president of marketing and communications for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago from 1996-2001 where her responsibilities also included membership recruitment and retention.

She also has headed her own design firm and served as an independent consultant in marketing and communications with clients in law, human resources and financial services. Earlier, she held managerial positions in advertising and marketing with the Tribune Company.

In addition, Toyama is an active volunteer in her local community. She serves on the board of the Glen Ellyn Youth and Family Counseling Services and the Parish Life Committee of the First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn. She also serves on the nominating committee for the Civic Betterment Party of Glen Ellyn.

Toyama holds a Master of Management degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University. She resides with her family in Glen Ellyn, Ill.
