AADC 2009 spring workshop to focus on "Navigating Change"

Workshop to be held May 7-9 at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz.

GREENVILLE, Indiana--The American Association of Dental Consultants Spring Workshop, "Navigating the Changing Landscape of the Dental Consultant," will be held May 7-9 at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Dentists, dental specialists and persons involved in the dental insurance business are welcome to attend the workshop, which offers 15 Continuing Education Unit credits.

Conference speakers include some of the industry's leading experts on clinical dentistry and dental claims management.

A Medicaid panel will present experts' views on the Medicaid program from the federal, state and insurance carrier perspectives.

Panel experts include: James E. Thommes, DDS, senior dental director for Doral Dental; Robert L. Birdwell, DDS, vice-chairperson of the Medicaid/ SCHIP Dental Association; and Conan Davis, DMD, MPH, chief dental officer, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Two claims review sessions will present experts' views on actual claims with facilitated discussion on CDT coding, comparison of treatment submitted to standards of care, quality of diagnostics and opinions on proper claim handling.

The reviews will be moderated by Marc Zweig, DMD, manager, Professional Review, Delta Dental of New Jersey.

Panel experts include Stewart Balikov, DDS, dental director, Aetna Dental of California.; George Koumaras, DDS, dental director, Delta Dental of Virginia; and Scott Levin, DDS, Ameritas Life Insurance Co. (dental division).
Prior to the start of the workshop, examinations will be held May 6 for Certified Dental Consultant candidates. AADC certification is a credential and evidence of expertise in dental claims management/dental plan administration.

The annual AADC golf outing will be May 6 at Camelback Golf Club. AADC's annual business meeting will be held May 8 during the conference. The president's dinner reception will also be held May 8.

Conference fees are $525 for AADC, CADP, NADP and NDEDIC members and $750 for nonmembers. Rates increase for registrations received after April 4. Preregistration closes April 24.

The conference fee includes three continental breakfasts and three lunches plus 2.5 days of continuing education programs, welcome reception, and vendor exhibits.
