Cone Beam 3-D imaging system captures industry award.

HATFIELD, Pennsylvania--Imaging Sciences International's i-CAT has been named winner in the X-ray Equipment, Cone Beam Scanner category for the 2009 Townie Choice Awards.

The honor marks this the third consecutive year that this 3-D dental imaging system has received this accolade, presented by Dentaltown.

The recognition follows the announcement that i-CAT was awarded the Pride Institute's 2009 "Best of Class" award for Cone Beam that was featured at the inaugural Pride Institute's Greater New York Dental Meeting Technology Fair.

Additionally, i-CAT also was singled out in Dr. Lorne Lavine's 2009 Technology Guide as the "Best of '09" in the category of Cone Beam imaging, also for the third consecutive year.

The i-CAT provides surgical predictability and precise orthodontic treatment planning with 3-D imaging. i-CAT technology offers fast scan (8.9 seconds) and reconstruction (less than 30 seconds) rates.

The system's Amorphous Silicon Flat Panel Sensor, with its extended field of view option, captures the entire skull, 17 cm in height and 23 cm in diameter, as well as the ability to capture smaller fields of interest down to 4 cm in height--a total of six-scan sizes.

Its i-CATVision software can be freely shared with colleagues along with scans of less than 50 MB, and clinicians can transfer scan data in DICOM to third-party 3-D imaging software. The new optional Tru-Pan software, a one-click volumetric pan, yields clear and precise panoramic views from 3-D scans in seconds.
