Nominations for ADA New Dentist Awards sought

Oct. 28, 2009
Deadline for nominations is Dec. 1, 2009.

CHICAGO--If you would like to nominate a new dentist for one of the annual American Dental Association Committee on the New Dentist Awards, nominations should be submitted to state or local dental society by Dec. 1, 2009.

The dental society will then submit the nominees to the ADA Committee on the New Dentist for the following categories:

* Golden Apple New Dentist Leadership Award: Recognizes an ADA member dentist who graduated on or after Jan. 1, 2000, and who has demonstrated outstanding leadership initiative in organized dentistry.

* Golden Apple New Dentist Legislative Leadership Award: Recognizes an ADA member dentist who graduated on or after Jan. 1, 2000, and who has demonstrated outstanding political/legislative leadership initiative.

The CND is also accepting nominations for the Golden Apple Outstanding Leadership in Mentoring Award, which recognizes an ADA member dentist who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in mentoring. The nominee for this award does not need to be a new dentist.

In addition, the CND is accepting nominations for the New Dentist Committee Outstanding Program Award of Excellence, which recognizes a constituent or component new dentist committee for a single program or service that meets the needs of dental students, recent graduates, new dentists, or that facilitates the involvement of dental students or new dentists in organized dentistry.

The winners will be announced during the ADA's 24th New Dentist Conference, which is scheduled June 24-26, 2010, in San Diego, Calif.
