CHICAGO--Dennis Engel, DDS, a general dentist in Mequon, Wis., was installed as a trustee of the American Dental Association at the ADA's 150th Annual Session and World Marketplace Exhibition.
Dr. Engel will serve on the ADA Board of Trustees as the trustee from the ninth district, which represents Michigan and Wisconsin. The ADA Board formulates and reviews policies and programs and makes recommendations to the members of the ADA's governing body, the House of Delegates.
As a member of the ADA Board, Dr. Engel will play a major role in the ADA's organizational objective of being America's leading advocate for oral health.
Dr. Engel is a past president of the Wisconsin Dental Association and has been a delegate in the ADA House of Delegates.
Dr. Engel is in his third, four-year term as editor of the award-winning WDA Journal. His exemplary and innovative service earned him a 2003 Pyramids of Pride Award for Media Relations from the WDA and a 2002 Distinguished Editor Award from the ADA Council on Communications.
A past president of the American Association of Dental Editors, Dr. Engel also serves as Wisconsin editor for the International College of Dentistry.
Dr. Engel is a graduate of the Marquette University School of Dentistry. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Engel served as the staff dentist for St. Anne's Home for the Elderly in Milwaukee from 1978 to 2004.
He and his wife, Cecile, have been married for 36 years. Their family includes six grown children, one daughter-in-law, two son-in-laws, and five grandchildren (four living).
