SAN FRANCISCO--Delta Dental of California and its affiliated companies have announced the appointment of Charles Lamont as chief legal officer and executive vice president for its 15-state region that encompasses 24 million enrollees across the U.S.
He replaces Robert Becker, who is retiring after 24 years with Delta Dental.
Lamont will oversee the corporation's legal, regulatory and compliance activities, as well as human resources and public and government affairs. Most recently, he served as senior vice president for legal and compliance. Prior to joining Delta Dental in 1986, he spent 11 years in private practice engaged in antitrust and business litigation.
A graduate of Brown University, Lamont received his J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.
"In this complex regulatory environment, we're fortunate to have someone like Mr. Lamont who can step right into the role of his predecessor, thoroughly prepared to deal with the many issues that envelope an enterprise structure such as ours," said President and CEO Gary D. Radine. "Mr. Lamont brings a sharp legal mind to deal with the distinct legal and regulatory requirements of the many states where we do business."
