ROCK HILL, South Carolina--Introduced to the U.S. dental market in August 2009, the OS (oscillating segment) Discs and OS30 electric handpiece from KOMET USA have received an accolade.

Joe Blaes, DDS, editor-in-chief of Dental Economics®, listed the OS Discs as one of his Top 12 Pearls for 2009. The complete list of Dr. Blaes' top Pearls for the year was published in the magazine's December 2009 issue.

"We're truly honored by this distinction and we'd like to thank Dr. Blaes and PennWell Publishing for their support," said Warren A. White, KOMET USA's chief operating officer of sales and marketing.

"Dr. Blaes is truly respected in the dental industry, as well as Dental Economics®. To have him name the OS Discs as one of his Pearls is a boost to everyone who designed this instrument. KOMET takes great pride in the dental rotary instruments we manufacture and we will continue to strive to produce quality dental products."

KOMET USA developed 15 different OS Discs to be used with the OS30 handpiece--nine with fine-grit diamonds and six with medium-grit diamonds. Out of the 15 discs, eight are one-sided and seven are two-sided. They come in various thicknesses, ranging from 0.13 to 0.45 mm.
