CHATSWORTH, California--The Appliance Therapy Group will feature Ronald S. Prehn, DDS, as part of the group of dental professionals, clinicians, and field-related experts who will speak at ATPA 2010.

The Seventh Annual Appliance Therapy Practitioners Association Symposium will be held March 11-14, 2010, at the Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa in Las Vegas, Nev.

In "OSA--The Missing Link in TMD," Dr. Prehn will examine the "cusp" between medicine and dentistry and will presenting evidence of a direct link between patients who suffer from temporomandibular joint disorders and those who are plagued by obstructive sleep apnea.

"We all have patients who grind their teeth, complain of facial pain, and present symptoms of TMJ dysfunction," said ATG CEO Dr. Rob Veis.

"Dr. Prehn will present compelling information and evidence of a TMD/OSA connection--a potential eye-opener when we're talking about those challenging cases which seem to defy diagnosis at times."

Founder/director of the Center for Facial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine and board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr. Prehn focuses his practice on providing care for patients with sleep-related breathing disturbances, as well as headaches and TMJ.

He teaches at the University of Texas, where he conducts national and local seminars and conferences for dentists, physicians, and health-care professionals.

This year, Dr. Prehn is part of a symposium program that will dedicate a day to sleep appliance therapy--techniques, tools, and trends. There will also be two days devoted to staff training with Anita Jupp. This will include discussion and application of the principles of team play, goal orchestration, motivation strategies and education essentials, and the art of collaborative promotion, support and success.

In addition, participating doctors are invited to bring their staff --two of which can attend free of charge.

Seminar-goers will have the opportunity to earn as many as 42 continuing education credits and receive certification in the Perio-Protect Method. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit case presentations for display and feedback, participate in hands-on roundtable sessions, attend in-depth lectures and workshops on topics from minor tooth movement to mouthguards to legal imperatives, and initiate and grow future relationships, programs, and partnerships.
