CHICAGO--The American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation has announced the public launch of the Vision 2012: Brilliant Futures campaign.
The campaign will raise funds to aid the ACP in meeting three core goals: driving growth in prosthodontics, funding educational curriculum innovation and reform, and helping to realize the promise of science and technology through new research and education initiatives.
Campaign chair, Dr. Lyndon Cooper, made the initial public announcement of the campaign at the close of the 2007 American College of Prosthodontists President's Dinner Nov. 3 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Dr. Cooper reflected on prosthodontics today and stressed the importance of seizing current opportunities to advance the prosthodontic discipline. Dr. Thomas McGarry and Dr. Jonathan Ferencz were recognized as Honorary Campaign Chairs and were thanked for their past leadership during the ACPEF's prior fund-raising successes.
Dr. Cooper made three announcements. First, he indicated that--with unanimous participation--the ACP and ACPEF Boards collectively contributed $300,000 to the Brilliant Futures Campaign. Dr. Cooper also expressed his special thanks and deep appreciation for the extraordinary unanimous and significant personal contributions from ACP staff.
The second announcement revealed contributions from three corporate partners. He noted that their early leadership contributions to Vision 2012: Brilliant Futures had set a new standard for prosthodontics. Scott Root, president & CEO, Astra Tech Inc., North America, announced Astra Tech's contribution of $1 million in support of the campaign.
This donation marked the first million dollar contribution in ACPEF history. Dr. George Tysowsky, vice president, technology, Ivoclar Vivadent, Inc., announced his company's support of the campaign with a leadership commitment of $500,000. Kevin Mosher, vice president and general manager, North America, Nobel Biocare, echoed the industry's support of prosthodontics with the announcement of a lead campaign commitment from Nobel Biocare of $1.5 million.
Dr. Cooper's concluding announcement was that the Brilliant Futures Campaign was officially launched with more than $3.3 million in early campaign commitments.
"The college has an ambitious agenda to transform the future of prosthodontics," said Cooper. "Many promising initiatives have been proposed, but implementing them will require a significant investment from dental industry suppliers, practitioners, and educators. As result of the unprecedented support demonstrated by our initial corporate partners and member contributors, we have set our sights on making this the most successful endeavor in the foundation's history."
Vision 2012: Brilliant Futures is the second major campaign conducted by the ACPEF. The Foundation's last campaign raised in excess of $5 million. Campaign activity is scheduled to continue in phases throughout the next year, culminating in a final campaign event currently scheduled in conjunction with ACP's 2008 Annual Session. The campaign seeks the financial investment of industry leaders, ACP members and other related stakeholders. Information regarding the ongoing progress of the campaign will be posted on ACPEF's Web site at American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation.
