Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) is pleased to announce its support for the Self Employed Health Care Affordability Act of 2003, H.R. 1873. This bill addresses the needs of small businesses in the affordability of health insurance for the self-employed.

Women and minority business owners struggle to provide health insurance for their employees. The bill will eliminate the provision that the self-employed claim health insurance premiums when determining self-employment tax. Bill co-sponsors are Chairman of the House Small Business Committee Rep. Donald Manzullo (R-IL) and Ranking Member Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY).

WIPP is a bipartisan organization representing about 430,000 diverse businesswomen and women business owners nationwide in Washington, D.C. WIPP advises Congressional and Administration leaders on public policies that affect businesses, such as health care, tax-relief issues, and federal contracting.
