Sunstar Americas, a leader in oral health care products, announced the eight recipients of this year's GUM Healthy Gums Healthy Life/RDH Award of Distinction.
The annual award, sponsored by Sunstar Americas and RDH magazine, was presented at the 2007 RDH Under One Roof Summer Conference in Washington, D.C. The conference, attended by 860 dental hygienists, attracted a host of dynamic speakers and offered hands-on workshops and information on the latest developments in dental hygiene.
The recipients received their awards on stage during a special event at the show, and will be featured on the cover of the Sept. 2007 issue of RDH magazine. Included in the article will be a special feature section showcasing the winning hygienists.
The winners, all dental hygienists, are Donna Grzegorek, Algonquin, Ill.; Linda Bohacek, Eau Claire, Wis.; Diana Corbin, Sperryville, Va.; Judy Shimamoto, Marshall Islands; Cynthia Dixon, Houston, Tex.; Carol Lee, Sacramento, Calif.; Sandra Berger, Freehold, N.J.; and Millie Thaw, Deer Park, N.Y.
These outstanding hygienists were honored for the role they play in helping their patients lead healthier lives, their achievements within the dental profession, and their dedication to public service within their communities.
Since 2002, the Award of Distinction has been presented annually to eight leading hygienists in the U.S. who meet the following requirements:
• Made special efforts to help their patients live healthier lives through better oral care.
• Provided outstanding patient counseling to improve oral hygiene home care compliance.
• Contributed to their community and the dental hygiene profession.
Nomination ballots were reviewed by an independent panel of judges, who made the final selections.
