Since 2016, BeeSure has worked with Planet Bee Foundation to provide education and workshops for students of all ages to learn the importance of individual actions in global environmental movements. Planet Bee is dedicated to inspiring environmental stewardship and individual action through the teaching lens of the struggling honey bee. This year, BeeSure continues its partnership with Planet Bee to launch a new Seed Ball Kit Program.

For every case of products purchased, BeeSure contributes 25 cents towards an environmental organization.

What are seed balls?

Seed ball kits will promote awareness for kids to not only protect the environment, but also learn, love, and preserve it. Seed balls are natural clay balls full of seeds and soil. They can be easily dispersed to grow plants of all types without the need to dig holes or till land.

How does the Seed Ball Kit Program work?

Schools nationwide could apply for the Seed Ball Kit Program. After numerous applications and reviewal, 10 lucky schools around the country were selected to be sponsored for the program. Once a school is sponsored, teachers receive the kits and curriculum and are free to decide when lessons will take place.

One elementary school, Collins Elementary, dedicated a whole afternoon for all grades to participate in the program. The students would come in by class and make the seed balls, then disperse them around their buildings. The school had parent volunteers place soil in dedicated areas around the campus prior to making the seed balls. After dispersing the seed balls, the students will track its growth and process weekly.

Why are seed balls important?

Seed balls will grow into pollinator friendly flowers that provide food for bees. One third of our food supply is directly reliant on pollination services, and the populations of bees are decreasing at alarming rates. Seed ball kits allow students around the country to join in the efforts to support our precious pollinators. Thanks to BeeSure and Planet Bee, the Seed Ball Kit Program will plant 100,000 flower seeds!
