Boost your DentistryIQ: Clear aligners with no lab bill and better patient compliance

Sept. 8, 2020
Why was OrthoFX aligner therapy nicknamed the "Tempur-Pedic of teeth" by patients? Cofounders Nicole Garcia and Ren Menon explain the advantages of the product and why dentists and patients love it.

When Ren Menon and Nicole Garcia noticed the growth in direct-to-consumer companies for dental needs, they believed that the clear aligner market was being overlooked.

“We were worried about the lack of dentist involvement in the direct-to-consumer clear aligner model,” said Menon, CEO of OrthoFX. He and Garcia, president of OrthoFX, cofounded the company with Henry Chan. “We wanted to bring the doctor back into the hub of the model while still involving patients in their care.”

The trio developed their idea for a company where the dentist is more involved, and where both dentists and patients have a great experience. “People expect a high-quality digital experience that’s connected and safe,” they agreed. “We provide that and more."

In this interview with Dr. Pamela Maragliano-Muniz, Menon and Garcia explain that the majority of OrthoFX treatments end on time and that 80% need no refinements. “Patients started calling us the Tempur-Pedic of teeth because of the comfort of the materials we use, and we sort of adopted that nickname,” Menon said.

One of the most important aspects of OrthoFX is that it gives dentists the ability to monitor patient compliance. Find out some of the other advantages of OrthoFX clear aligner therapy in this interview.
