Digital imaging and practice management solution powerhouses join forces to offer integrated product set.

ATLANTA, Georgia and RICHARDSON, Texas--PracticeWorks Systems, a division of Carestream Health, and Healthsoft jointly announce the purchase of the Windent business of Healthsoft by PracticeWorks.

Windent is a provider of oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental practice-management software sold under the brand names WINDENT OMS, WINDENT SQL, WINDENT Enterprise, and WINDENT Platinum.

This combination should benefit Windent customers, who will now have access to fully integrated imaging and practice-management software solutions. This integration will enable improved office workflow and productivity and better patient care.

Windent's practice-management system should expand and strengthen
PracticeWorks' array of practice-management systems and digital imaging solutions. These include the Kodak 9000 3D System and the Kodak 9500 Cone Beam CT System, along with a complement of software features and functionality, such as the Kodak PEARL Module for iPhone and BlackBerry.

PracticeWorks will retain the product and industry knowledge of
the Windent team to help ensure continued support of Windent customers and
further development of Windent products.

Plans include augmenting the Windent support and development teams with the full resources of the U.S. dental practice management and imaging company.

With this acquisition, the Windent business and its workforce, based in
Richardson, will become part of PracticeWorks.

"We view this acquisition as an opportunity to deliver new and innovative solutions to our customers as we have for over 23 years," stated Thai Hoang, cofounder and president of Healthsoft.

Added Patrik Eriksson, CEO of PracticeWorks: "Oral surgeons and dentists demand the best in practice-management software and 2D and 3D image quality to properly diagnose and treat patients. Together, PracticeWorks and Windent will deliver the best-in-class, most highly integrated digital imaging and
practice-management software solutions available."

According to Cynthia Bethel, CEO of Healthsoft: "Oral health providers across the U.S. and Canada are engaging digital imaging in ways never before possible. Joining forces with PracticeWorks will enable our common vision of allowing practices to flourish and better meet patient needs."
