Dental Hygienist Salary Survey 2014
Difficulty in finding a job as a dental hygienist in Florida
Observation: Florida is very close to the national averages. But pay attention to the number of hygienists who said it is “relatively easy” to find a job; it’s six percentage points above the national average (8%). That’s kind of odd for a state that’s always been popular with foreign dentists and dental hygiene transplants.
Length of time since last pay raise in Florida
Observation: Quite a few have never seen a pay raise (national average is 13%). As a result, the percentage of recent raises is lower than it is in other states.
Most common hourly pay rates in Florida
$30, $32
Observation: The low end, $30 an hour, matches the low end of the national averages — but hourly rates in Florida are nowhere near the high end of the national average of $40. 42% of the metropolitan responses were from Tampa, considerably more than the Miami (24%), Orlando (24%), and Jacksonville (9%) metropolitan areas.
